Singer-songwriter, Matthew Wise, has been touring Texas with Americana band Down for the Count for the last 14 years. When the pandemic shut down most venues and prevented the band from playing live shows, Matthew got back to writing. His first solo album, entitled “We Ain’t Finished Yet” was co-produced with the legendary Lloyd Maines, and was released in October 2023. The album’s style reflects the influences of Texas artists from Hayes Carll to Lyle Lovett, and features dancehall tunes as well as retrospectives on marriage and parenting. Drawing upon his own experiences as an Episcopal priest, husband, and father, Matthew's lyrics reveal a vulnerability and depth you don’t often hear on country radio.
